Jonathan Button

Jonathan Button aka Ravinder Singh aka Kundalini is a Yoga instructor, a performance artist, and a world fusion chef. In addition to teaching yoga, he participates in diverse venues including the Maritime Museum Dancers, the Technomania Circus, Zirk Ubu, the Society for Creative Anachronism and the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Jonathan was immersed in the culture of yoga and mysticism growing up overseas as the son of the American Diplomat, Jack Button. Places where he studied and worshiped included the American International School in Isreal, Sri Aurobindo Ashram in India, Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal and Sophia University in Japan. In 1975, he returned to the U.S. and soon afterward met his teacher, Yogi Bhajan. He was encouraged to teach Yoga and became a chef and a manager at the Golden Temple Conscious Cookery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was given the spiritual name, Ravinder Singh. Which means “the Sun God who rules in heaven and is a lion among men.”
After receiving a degree in Culinary Arts and Sciences in Washington DC, he moved to San Diego. There, for 25 years, he enjoyed the life of a house holder; including a marriage, a career as a chef and raising three children. In 2004, he attended the Burning Man Festival and was given the “playa” name of “Kundalini”. Above all else he is a Yoga teacher and participates in diverse Performance Arts venues. He now teaches a variety of classes full time in San Diego and Beyond.
